Seb - Headshaker from Burgess Hill West Sussex.
15.2 hh Irish gelding 27 years old

Hazel Boniface who loans & rides Seb says -
' Seb has been a headshaker for 14 years. If there was a product on the market which claimed to help, I tried
It! All to no avail.
About 4 years ago I read an article in Horse & Hound about Annabelle & TCM. I tried her herbal formulas &
within 2 weeks I noticed a difference in Sebs behaviour & after a month, no more headshaking. I couldn't
believe it but it was true. It was fantastic & Annabelle lives just 1 mile away from me!

Seb was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes a couple of years ago by my Vet. Annabelle added some extra
herbs & that seems to be helping as he can still see quite well.
Unfortunately Seb recently developed a frost related laminitis & yet again Annabelle came to the rescue with
another formula that worked like magic.

I cannot thank Annabelle enough for all her advice & help which has allowed Seb & myself to still be 'happy
hackers.'

Hazel Boniface.

Note ; Although kept locally, Seb has never been seen or diagnosed 'in the flesh'.
All signs/symptoms were accurately relayed by Hazel either by phone or e mail & a diagnosis made
accordingly. Seb has had blips on several occasions around springtime & when introduced to new grass,
but has responded well to re diagnosis & herbal protocols..

Some of their stories are below.
Porcha - Headshaker - Owner Helen Rudkin of Surrey
7year old Dutch mare.

First visited 3/07 after referral from Raymond Heathcote who advised that this was one of the worst
headshaking cases he had seen.

The mare was imported from Holland in March 06 & sold by owner last Nov to client. Only lightly hacked
previously .
Started swinging her head left when out in the field. Not as bad in the mornings after being in at night.
Eventually unable to lead in as so irrational to handle. Would rear etc. Unable to put any rugs on her as she
was so aggressive due to pain in chest area.

Signs/symptoms

The mare continuously ticced/jerked her head. Would not allow anything around her head or ears. Very
sore on  both sides of her neck.  Unable to examine or touch area around eyes.
Irrational behaviour.
Sighs, Noise sensitive, no sweat after work. Droppings looser with stress.
Left eye weeping, rubs left side of face & ear. Discharge from left ear. Has had mud fever. Swings head to
left involuntary motion. Kicks belly as if colicy.Coat short & dry.Dull
Urine scanty/ pungent.
Eyes - could not see lids -  assume redness/line. Brown eye corners. Blue ring red sclera. Puffy above eyes.
Dull depressed attitude.
Tongue very pale body. Pink front edge. Curled. Pale yellowish gums. Yellow coating. Pulse bounding/fast.

A TCM diagnosis was made & 2 formulas administered at 3 weekly intervals.

4/07
Owner reports mare no longer headshaking & is ridable. Still slightly irrational & difficult with rugs & girth.
Continue with same formulas.

8/07

Mare going extremely well. Has been to Pony Club Camp where she behaved impeccably.
Formulas combined into 1

10/3/08

Owner reports slight headshaking symptoms when hacked out. Assume Spring 'blip'.
Formulas altered to address.
Mare now fine.
No more herbs used

07/08

Owner requested formulas just to keep mare balanced as being worked hard. Reports no problems
whatsoever with her!

This mare may well have another Spring blip in 09 but is well on the way to complete recovery.
May - Squamous cell carcinoma - Owner Mrs Jaqui O'connell of Sussex
9year old Welsh Mountain Pony Gelding.

.
The pony had been diagnosed by Sally Hall of Cliffe Equine Practice in Sussex, as having a large squamous
cell carcinoma on his penis which extended up into his sheath. This apparently  looked like a cauliflower.
She also diagnosed infection & had given several doses of antibiotics to no avail.
Mrs O'Connell had been advised that the only available treatment was to have the penis amputated & flow
of urine to be directed via a plastic tube to under his tail.
Mrs O'Connell declined this option & requested that he be treated with TCM.

Visited in 11/06
The pony was in clear discomfort around a hot swollen sheath & belly. Owner advised that he could not
lower his penis to urinate. There was a pungent discharge from the sheath.
The pony was depressed, sighing & nervous

The tongue was pale, fat & purple hued. Pulse wiry
A TCM diagnosis was made & a TCM formula together with Essiac Tea was given.

19/12/06

Vet called to check pony's progress. May was sedated to extend & examine his penis. The Vet noted that
the tumour had reduced by at least 50% & there was no sign of infection. Her instructions were to 'carry
on doing whatever you are doing as it is clearly working'!

Several weeks later the owner reported that May was now able to drop his penis to urinate & there was
little sign of any tumour.

May has now been sold to a loving family & has been visited several times for check ups. He is remaining
in excellent health. All his depression & nervousness has gone & he is a super childs pony.
